@michaelafu1, get a good recording book. It will tell you how to mike anything. LDC's with a 10 db pad usually sounds best on trumpet from about six inches. They are using a Shure SM57 in this video.

hey, i got the shure sm57, and im still having a little trouble with sound quality.
What cables are you using to record your playing? Are you recording onto a computer?
xlr to xlr with adapters?
or xlr to trs 1/4" with adapter?
or xlr to trs 1/8"?
or a usb adapter?
or something else?
