You can just use an old jar, drill/puncture a hole in the middle of the lid and put a mixture of vegemite and water, possibly honey/peanut butter as well, in the bottom. Just beware that the more flies you get the more it will start to stink

kool.., can you tell the diameter size and height off the trap? Plus what is used to attrack them into it? plus how much was the trap?

"Good-Stuff!!" just spent the holidays in Lakes Entrance Victoria Australia & the fly's were number one conversation start of the day.. My son will now try some of these out to see witch works best!?

how do they enter and how do they get stuck?

@mcdudly00 The flies enter at the gap around the top of the trap then crawl down to the bottom of that cone shape where there is a small hole. Because of the position of the hole, once they enter, they find it very difficult to find it again. It's their nature to fliy toward the lighter areas to try to escape, rather than the small hole right in the middle.

That's why I made the video. I was SO amazed the first time I set up the trap and the amount of flies it caught, that I thought I'd try it again and photograph it. And it happened again. I think the secret to success with fly traps is finding the right position. This was in my garden, but I know a guy who had equaly success near his chook pen (chicken coop).
