@GuitarFaris - well, there always need to be some reason to add some functionality, but If I understand you correctly, then this new API could be helpful in displaying 3D objects in browser [to use with games and other things].

Is there any practical use of this feature? maybe it's just me and lack of my imagination, but I can't imagine one ...
As one of the previous posters already said: this seems to be pretty useless.
It's only an "eye-candy" stuff, probobly psychological stuff that would make you believe you're actualy sitting in front of the dark desk, but here comes a mismatch: what if mine is white?
