  • The narrator's 180 degrees off. The git down rope is not used on "the younger horses" and John, I'm sure knows that. Younger horses are in snaffles, hackamores or the 2-Rein. These all use mecates with an integral lead line.

The bosalito and git down are used on bridle horses. You don't lead a finished bridle horse around by the reins like they do in the movies. Tugging on a spade or half breed would spoil your horse's mouth. Besides vaquero style would use braided reins.

  • @rlaycock So right you are. Your comments and interest are appreciated. The narrator is a long time horseman and cutter but is not as familar with the Vaquero history... As I am still learning daily from all the wonderful horseman and women I have connected with on the world wide web...

  • Narrator sounds like a real horseman.

The young lady will be a better horseperson once she learns to keep her darn hand away from that colts mouth. Spoils the hell out of them.

If a young horse cannot lead lightly and you fear they pull back in fear, their not ready to be out in the range anyhow. Your gonna have a wreck.

  • Though the horse is mouthy from too many treats, the information in your video is great. Thank you.

  • i didn't know we were doing three parts to this...otherwise i wouldn't have given him a cookie. ello insane

  • the horse looks ichy, poor horsey.

    ps, ello clueless

  • You need to have the young lady leave that horse alone.........stop giving him treats.........as long as anyone does that, the horse will not behave/stand still. He is so busy moving and being mouthy. Make the right thing easy, the wrong thing hard.
