  • Hadn't heard of a Brookings Oregon Fatality on any new report until this moment seeing this video. What are the details?

  • @ThePoemPoet No official details released as of yet. They were uncertain if the death was due to the tsunami, or just happened to be a coincidence of natural causes that morning

  • Beautiful job Chris. Sue McK

  • @dubbyishot33 thank you

  • Best video so far that illustrates the destruction the harbor took.

  • @everclear5150 Thank you very much

  • @madmanmantra Most of these people don't own trailers. Numerous boats sailed out to sea and waited it out there for the whole day. Which , by the way is a huge risk since you never know if you will have a harbor to sail back in to. Without a trailer, you simply cannot go down to the harbor and get your boat out. These boats are always in their slips and so they don't need a trailer. It is what it is. Natural disasters are not these people fault.

  • What's a boat owner to do? Fly the boat out of the water? Most of these people don't own trailers. The boats stay in the harbor yearround.

  • This was a while ago it's all been restored I was just there and I was on the beach and in the water and everything but unfortanately some boats didn't make it

  • Best thing to do is to go out to sea before it hits and wait until it passes.

  • @cymx5 Actually, boohoo's aren't really in order. Several people's boats were destroyed; a few were living on their "luxury property" and some others had no insurance to cover this kind of damage. Most boats were well insured and will be repaired, but for all those who were displaced, I think saying "boohoo" is a little uncalled for!

  • @ThePoemPoet Actually, there were no deaths due to the tsunami in Brookings. A fisherman was found deceased on his own boat, but he'd been dead for several hours before the tsunami hit Brookings. He died after a long bout with cancer.

  • i like the part with the boats in it.

also, at 1:41 a lost boat found a buddy.

  • i like the part with the boats in it.

  • It looks like a lot of the boats were snug as bugs, and others were obviously not. Was it a crapshoot? Just luck of placement within the harbour?

    Great vid, thank you.

  • @plfoht Some kind of boat towing service or rental and some kind of emergency "high and dry" boat parking lot sounds like something worth investing in, but then again I guess if you have a commercial fishing business you got to make a profit and save a buck, and it's not easy to think about everything to go wrong.
