NIF featured on BBC "Horizon"

The National Ignition Facility, the world's largest laser system, located at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, was featured in the BBC broadcast "Horizon" hosted by physicist Brian Cox. Here is the NIF portion of the program, which was entitled "Can We Make A Star On Earth?" This video is used with the express permission of the BBC.

Why doesn't this inspire people? Why don't they say; yeah I was gonna go on holiday this year but instead I'll donate that money to the NIF.

Governments should also say right you see how much capital we can allocate to the financial industry when they mess up... We need to allocate that to this endeavor.

We should read the sports section of newspapers and the advanced energy creation sections. It should be larger than sports in our collective conscious. These guys should get those wages...

its definitely efficient enough, or our sun would have burnt out long ago, and once they have figured a reliable sequenced ignition process its possible that the lasers will only be needed to fire once to set of the chain reaction of 10 a second.
