UW-Stout discusses the suspension of 10 hockey players on October 13, 2010 in Ballroom C of the Memorial Student Center, with the news media.
UW-Stout took action against hockey players who were present in the Log Jam tavern the night of Sept. 18.
Two of these individuals, Jedidiah McGlasson and Jared Britton, have been charged with assault and felony murder, both as party to the crime, in Bradley Simon's death. Britton and McGlasson will not play for UW-Stout this year and will not be eligible for reinstatement to the hockey team.
Eight others have been informed that they will not be eligible to play for UW-Stout this year. They will be eligible for reinstatement at the end of that period, if approved by Athletic Department officials and the Dean of Students.
These actions were based on violations of the provisions of the Student-Athlete Code of Conduct. It contains specific guidelines for behavior, both on and off the field, including actions while engaging in high risk alcohol use.
Speakers:
Doug Mells (UW-Stout Communications Director)
Phil Lyons (Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Life Services)
Charles Sorensen (UW-Stout Chancellor)
