I added more of a 'slap funk' technique than the actual track has because I'm just learning different techniques and trying to get comfortable using them.

  • Well Im not a musician so I guess I dont know what this means still. I love the piano - wish I could play a beautiful song

  • The easiest way to describe 'playing in the pocket ' is playing with good timing and not rushing or 'pushing' the groove ... I hope this helps :)

My advice is if you like something enuff ... like a piano or keyboard in your case .. get one and experiment ... I honestly think if you have any typing skills ... you'd be surprised what you can pick up on a keyboard instrument .. good luck Jsb !!!

  • What does playing in th epocket mean????????

  • Good question Jsb ... here's a quote from drummer Paul Wertico explaining the term ... ":Establishing a groove and staying in the pocket is one of the marks of an experienced player. However, one of the more common problems I hear from students occurs when they are playing a beat, and then they try to play an embellishment or fill. It's not that what they play is necessarily out of time, but it's not in the pocket, either " ... i hope this helps .. cheers !

  • I gotta learn to relax .. pushing the beat here a bit ... playing in the pocket is a must to get these songs to groove !
