This novelty tune was recorded by Louis on Sept. 13, 1956. He was backed by Sam Butera and the Witnesses with an assist on vocals from his stage partner and wife, Keely Smith. "Banana Split For My Baby" borrows on a musical theme popularized by the Nat King Cole Trio recording of "Frim Fram Sauce" of the guy out on the town with little money.
