An all-female off-road race is preparing to roll and raise money to fight a disease that endangers women. a record number of participants are expected for the fifth annual powder puff race for the cure.
It's the nation's largest off-road all-women driver event. Women drivers, co-drivers and their teams from across the country will head to Barstow, California, where the action takes place on October eighth and ninth. Proceeds from the event will benefit Cedars-Sinai Breast Cancer Research Center. With the increasing number of women racers and spectators at each race, it is anticipated that this year's event will be the biggest and best yet, raising even more money for the cure.
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women in the United States. Nearly two hundred thousand women and two thousand men will be diagnosed this year.
