If you look Pat White then tries to get the Ref's attention...why would he wipe the spit off his face?
If the ref sees it then he's more inclined to believe it...

Well, it's simple. Either Pat White lied or he's telling the truth. Knowing White has a reputation for being of good character, I tend to believe him.
