Somawathi Stupa is build for reserve Sacred Right Tooth Relic of Buddha in 4th century AD.
This had happend on April 18,2010
The sky was cloudless and very clear with no signs of a rain. Offerings for the statue was just concluded and the western side of the sky suddenly started shining brightly with no sounds. Everybody was astonished by the miracle that was happening in front of their eyes. This happened continuously for about 15-20mins. The Nayaka thero confirmed that this was not general lightning but another version of unusual miracles take place at this great place. Also he mentioned that the similar type of lightning has taken place on special occasions before.
