Faure Elegie -- for violoncello and Piano -- Mark Kosower

Recorded for the Omega Ensemble on March 28, 2009 at Sea Cliff, Long Island, New York. Cellist Mark Kosower. PIanist Doris Konig, Artistic Director. Omega, as of the date of this upload (July 21, 2010) takes pleasure in noting that Mr. Kosower has accepted an appointment as principal cellist at the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra. The result will be less appearances by him with Omega. However, many will now have the joy of hearing performances by this remarkable and talented artist.

Mr. Kosower is well known in the music world for his intelligent, probing interpretations on the cello, and this is no exception. This performance ranks up there with the best of the masters, and I include Gregor Piatigorsky..

Ms.Konig's performance reminds me of the late Brooks Smith, who was a master in handling the most difficult accompaniments.
