no, this doesn't happen in general. You are meant to pronounce all the wovels in the word, exactly the way are written. If a vowel is omitted (as like in articles), it does even in written language.

okay, i can see that some people here can speak Italian... I am learning it on my own right now and i have a question. When there is a vowel at the end of one word and the word after that starts with a vowel, does the previous vowel at the end of the first word have to be silent? My text book doesn't say :( Is this to confusing?
