  • hi, i am looking to upgrade my ram and memory to make the computer faster. What size has the memory and ram got to be? How do you know what size is right for the g5?

  • @Jeffa101 See the video description for a link to the correct memory for your G5.

  • And any memory "cards" can be put in? I'm thinking of buying 8 gb memory in those "cards" and I hope that the g5 can handle any size of memory?

  • @milesthegreatbt Depending on your model of G5, you can add up to 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB of memory. Visit Other World Computing to determine the correct memory modules for your exact model.

  • I installed memory in my PowerMac G5 (one 512MB and one 256MB) as shown in the video, yet I still get 2 flashing lights when trying to turn it on. 2 flashing lights means "no RAM installed", yet I clearly have put some in!

  • @sonic3243 The memory in a PowerMac G5 must be installed in matched pairs, meaning that you could install two 512MB modules or two 256MB modules, but not one of each.

  • Excellent video making the installation of 4GB that much easier...THANKS!

  • @OWCmacsales That was helpfully. (Being Sarcastic)!!!!

  • @8arabianknight8 There are a few things this could be - the blinking power light indicates a memory problem - most likely due to a module not being fully seated. First verify that the memory is paired correctly as shown in the video. Then try re-seating the RAM. If that doesn't work, try one pair at a time to determine if you may have a faulty module or defective slot. If you're still experiencing issues, feel free to give our tech support a call for more troubleshooting idea at 1(800) 275-4576.

  • I installed the RAM just as instructed in this video but for some reason my computer wont recognize it. In fact it wont turn on even, instead the white LED power light blinks twice, and no signal is sent to the monitor. Do you have ne suggestions of what might be wrong?
