This technique improves the hook up ratio, however, from my own experience it does a lot more damage to the fish. I noticed with the sharper angle, the hook tends to pierced through the nostril area, tearing a big gash in between the eyes and into deeper tissues, especially the smaller grade fishies. It does help you hook up more, but unnecessary injured more fish in the process. I wouldn' t recommend this technique if you are trying to avoid needless injuries to the fish. IMO.
why not just get a bigger ot "gap" hook?

it should work i missed about 6 fish with my bait and it is a bad feeling i will try it
