My long term goal is to become a petroleum engineer. I think drilling and production engieering interests me most.
What is a good 2 year program to begin my education? General engineering? Mechanical? Electrical?
It seems that specializing comes later and so I need to start somewhere, can anyone toss me some advice?

Please view the geo-science video that I have just posted. I would be happy to answer any questions about the difference between geoscience and petroleum engineering.

Yes, you need to understand basic chemistry to be a pertroleum engineer. Usually one year of university chemistry is required.
