As regards to your sentiments towards everyone's failures to accept criticism, I think rather its their intolerance towards your negative tone, rather than you objectively saying Pat need works, that has them calling you a "hater" or whatever it may be. It is stupid, I know, but criticism doesn't need to be insulting.
