Hey, the Gold business must not be that great since you can only afford half a picture in the background on the wall. lol.
-
90% is still not enough :(
98.5 is what Im talking about

Hummmm. I see.

@SicaGR yea, i've always felt that grain/DWT stuff was used just to confuse & deceive people.
-
@Gold4Giving ah let me clarify what I mean. I do understand Pennyweight is another measurement. But I'm glad you clarify that you give both. Many don't. And by many I mean many of these 1 day only set up at a hotel type companies. Another one they use grains. Many confuse it with grams.
-
@SicaGR - First let me say that pennyweight (DWT) is a measurement of Troy ounces just as grams is. I'm tired of other buyers making claims that others that have pricing in pennyweight "manipulate" their numbers.
We're all in this together as buyers so when everyone is saying lies like this it hurts the entire industry. Point blank:
1 Troy Ounce = 20 Pennyweight
1 Troy Ounce = 31.1 Grams
Either way you do the math the numbers always come out the same. As buyers our job is to post prices for each

@SicaGR -Yes very true. I had a piece last week that a customer bought from JC Penney's she claims and it was fake when we tested it. If you're a customer it's a good idea to take along a magnet with you when your buying. It's rare for a department store to carry fake merchandise but it has happened.
I just caught wind of this idea, is it possible to build your own gold buying business and have your own refinery where you smelt the gold?

@Shystichu Possible, but not really probable. Smelting metal is not an inexpensive business to start up.

Thanks for the tips guys. Just wanted to alert all gold buyers on the forum that there is a string of cons out of FL that are selling fake gold medallions stamped 18K and they pass acid tests and even the electronic tests. They are selling these throughout the US even here in AZ. The only way to tell is using STRONG rare earth magnets and by scratching deep into the piece to test. I was told by the Mesa PD to alert any buyers I know. They weigh 1 oz and apparently there are a lot out there.
