This was one of my attempts to land on the surface of Io, a moon of Jupiter. The 3D terrain is an addon called Orulex.

  • You exploded because of the speed?

  • @noni15081998 hahaha, I crashed into the surface at about 20,000 mph

  • Here's a tip for orbiting and de-orbiting - Speed is Altitude... (explained below)

Eg. Say you're in orbit and you want to re-enter, first thing - you need to slow down. Keep the nose facing forwards and fire up the reverse thrusters ('-' on numpad). Your speed will drop and once you are below orbital velocity (the speed you have to be to stay in orbit) your alititude will start to drop too. You are now coming out of orbit. Keep the reverse on until you get to the re-enter speed. You're done

  • @alexgets98 thanks alot, maybe when I get the chance I'll make a part two where I actually land and not die!

  • omg my orbiter keeps crashing. it will load to were it showes the space station then it say it stoped working. i think i installed it wrong. can some1 help me?

  • @cubsrock10997 does this happen regardless of the scenario your trying to play?

  • here is the problem:

    - nose down, full thrust

solution: use retrograde autopilot to slow orbit down and land

  • @cinder5832 Thank you very much for the tips, I appreciate them, but this was a comedic video. Just saying.

  • its impossible to land on IO enless you go slow you dont have wheels for gears you have to have the other kind and not land on a volcano or your toast litarally

  • @Armigo91 Oh thanks, I didn't know that Io is cold.

  • its the whole planets that shrinks and expands. Which is different then on earth cause earthquakes or earth volcanoes are caused by continental plates, (think floating plates) the tides on io cover all the mass of the planet,

making it hard for someone on the surface to notice (apart from the many volcanoes that develop because of it) but the effect causes all the mass to interact causing the whole planet to heat up, from the core to the surface.

  • @gasfornuisje

point 2: it takes several weeks for io to orbit jupiter, at its closest aproach to jupiter the tides effect the moon at its peak,

it is because ios orbit is elliptical, and due to that change the planed shrinks and expands in its orbit around jupiter.

so it still takes weeks for the surface to change that drastically, i dont think you would immediately notic some difference if you were at io right now.

  • @gasfornuisje

volgens mij speel jij teveel met vuur.

1:IO isnt hot, IO is 150-200 degrees celsius below zero,

IO has volcanoes, but theyre caused by jupiters tides, and since io has almost no atmosphere to support greenhousing the many volcanoes that exist do not contribute to a overall hot climate,

if you crash on io you have 99,8% of a freezing death, unless you aim very well and hit the crater of a volcanoe.
