Our news now has learned that several major groups that talk show host Glenn Beck and several groups that identify themselves with the Tea Party Movement are promoting a massive demonstration in Washington DC on the same day that is normally reserved for the commemoration of a pinnacle event of the civil rights movement.

Tea party websites as well as that of Glenn Beck are calling it the restoring Honor event
Some civil right advocates have described the move as "horrible"

The restoring honor event and was apparently booked with the Capitol Parks department before the NAACP or several large unions that normally arrange for the event could get the slot. The March on Washington is normally attended by minority and labor groups that tend to vote with the Democratic party.

The tea party and its leaders have been criticized for attacking elements of the civil rights amendment, for support anti immigration proposals and for its overall lack of diversity.

When contacted by phone on Thursday night the Reverend Al Sharpton said the pre booking of the traditional site by tea party members would not stop other groups from marching in Washington on that day commemorating Dr. King's historic speech. Rev Sharton said quote

"We are going to march at the site of the proposed Martin Luther King Memorial We cannot let them hijack the dream"

  • the irony is the conservatives were the kkk back then

  • @strawberEfieldz4ever MLK's son spoke at sharpton's rally. And he doesnt think beck and his supporters understand what his father stood for.

  • @4x4Katie

the only reason they do that is so that there followers dont see that they are the ones spreading the fear and hate they pull the wool over their eyes and then accuse us of doin the same

  • socialists are just using minorities, women etc. as tools to further their agenda.

  • @Intotheorchard i just have other opinion as you ,,i agree with the problems they see,,ithink they were created by the same powers that now pretend to restore honor,,because i have different opinion it doesnt mean that you cant learn from it,,thats the weird thing of you teaparty people ,you think you have the truth on your side ,,well i stick with my first response,,i dont trust glenn when he says he is told by god to do this ,,just trying to make himself look credible ,,its pure evil though

  • So if that day was so important to blacks why wasn't it reserved? Oh I know THEY DON'T CARE. But since beck had it they were embarrassed and had to do something.

  • @Seasonchange1 Are you kidding? What better day to protest our shitty government then on that day?

  • @bassax7045 How could you possibly disagree with anything that was said at that rally? You obviously didn't go or watch it. Do the world a favor, don't comment about something you know nothing about. Thanks.

  • This is such bullshit. I was at the rally. There was absolutely nothing political about it. It was about principles! Ya know, the principles of life like FAITH, CHARITY, & HOPE!

And for all the lefts tryin to say it was "a white rally to turn everything in the country white again," ...ARE YOU SERIOUS!? ALVEDA KING SPOKE! There were people from all over the country. Different races, different denominations, men and women of the military past and present.

Rights, please rejoice with me & America

  • oh yeah if glenn becks rally was so disgraceful to MLK then why did his niece speak at Becks rally and i quote Alveda King "It is absolutely wonderful for Glenn to use his popularity and influence to bring us all together not on election or political cause but to focus on honor and the content of our character and not by the color of our skin. God bless you Glenn" and another thing there was blacks there it seemed like there was more blacks there then whites at Restore the dream
