From my 78rpm collection.

He did multi-recording-play on his

  • I loved it in 1951 and still do, thanks for sharing

  • RIP, Les Paul. This was the first Les Paul recording I ever heard. There are many, and they're all wonderful.

  • My mother Celia would sit right down at the piano when I came into the house and play Whispering; those were days to treasure throughout my entire lifetime.

  • It's so well executed from start to finish it baffles the mind !

  • I heard once that he had a turntable made out of an automobile flywheel and they covered up with a blanket , while recordingin a garage studio because of planes flying over head

  • i like videos that load.. is there any on youtube?

  • just kind of an observation---Les Paul really was more of a electronic wizard than the inventor of the electric guitar.it had some roots in Germany years before.he did the multi track overlays and the echo effects.he was so experimental and it seems to be the foundation of much of what happens today.computers have changed the face of music but the core lies with this man.

  • When l listen to this, together with How High The Moon and Waiting For The Sunshine l feel more like seventeen than seventy...at least just for a few precious minutes. How could anyone not be uplifted by the happier times of Les and Mary? They just don't make 'em like that any more !

  • PatJack1956, Les Paul and Mary Ford's "Whispering" got to number 7 on the Billboard chart. That means it was on the radio quite a bit and sold a lot of vinyl.

  • Les Paul is one of the legends of American music. His contribution to solid body electric guitars changed modern music. His technique and innovation were wonderful.

  • @patjack1956 How often did they played this track in 1951?
