Ski Instructors often use the term 'skiing stacked' when talking about body position in ski technique.

In this advanced ski lesson Darren Turner, presenter of the Ski School series of Apps for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad explains what 'being stacked' means and tells you how it will improve your skiing - not only when carving but off piste, in powder and crud too. Learn to ski the right way.

The Ski School series of Apps offer ski technique instruction using no-nonsense, easy-to-understand language in a format that you can take wherever you go.

  • Very useful. I have one question - should the upper part of the body point down the slope or should it simply follow the skis? I am asking because I have seen it expalined that the upper part of the body should not follow the skis and it's better to be positioned to point down the slope.

  • @anonimko007 If you are doing short radius turns then it is important to keep your upper body facing down the hill, if you are doing medium to long terms your body can start to follow the skis more however it should never be a case of turning the upper body to make the skis turn. Hope this helps.

  • i dont know if you noticed, but you are very close to falling off lol

  • @RtTeEn Don't worry I didn't fall off the edge I'm still a hear.

  • Thank you very much, you are a great instructor. You just fixed my upper body misalignment!

  • @evasommer11 Thanks very much very pleased that it's helped with your upper body, enjoy the rest of the season.

  • Finally! Someone who has a good technique not making a ´hey look at me I am a good skier with technique no one understand´ video. This is the way to show people how to improve there technique, understandable and a good example.

  • @voodoowood Skiing stacked is about being in a strong body position which applies to all skiing, including off-piste. Carving is just one component of skiing and we have series workshops introducing bumps, powder, off-piste coming soon that may interest you more.
