  • what kind of dries are you using for them? there aremt many clean flats areas for sight fishing where i live, but there's loads of carp

  • @martynwhit , i use just about any dry fly for carp. the key is getting it in front of them so that they choose to eat it. try a caddis or small hopper pattern and experiment from that point. good luck! mt

  • what is the fly you use for that kind of fly fishing? i mean... i thought carp was eating things in the bottom of the water? does it bite on flies in the sourface?

  • i am convinced carp will eat just about anything... in this video the carp were feeding at or near the surface and we just used little flies like you would use for trout (#10 & #12) the trick is to see the fish and get the fly right in front of its mouth, they will usually eat right away. carp with dry flies is also fun and can be used whenever you find them cruising or feeding near the surface.

  • Thank you so much for the reply!

I asked cause I 'm a bit comfused with which technique I should follow for carp fishing. I 've seen many videos of bottom carp fishing (with those rigs that have a ball over the hook) but the way you guys fish them, is far better in my opinion!

    Thanks again!

  • no problem... i believe that if you can see them, you can catch them!

  • What type of flys are you using for the flys?

  • damn, i feel bad for your fly rod! haha

  • i caught a 6 foot carp 30 pounds on my dly rod

  • I fish the lower Guadlupe river in New Braunfels all the time. We have some trout, bass, blue gills, and a ton of carp. They tick me off, they ignore every pattern I try. The bass, however will snatch anything , they can't resist my poppers. But the carp drive my crazy, sometimes I just want to bust out my bow.

  • nice. strange the hopping carps. in my country the carps do`nt jump out of the water , they just go like crazy directly to any weeds/trees/obstacles that they encounter nearby . nice fishing guys.

    cya.
