@jtkay1952 What amazes me is the same people screaming shrilly about Obama being a communist for introducing "Obama Care" are so silent about the Bush administration borrowing trillions to subsidise Wall St banks who gambled with the entire US economy and lost spectacularly.
How hollow the "USA No 1" chants seem to outsiders when poor US citizens are turned away from hospitals to die in the streets while golden parachutes are handed out to incompetent fat cat bankers courtesy of the US taxpayer.

Thank you for your post. It is extremely wearisome trying to explain why healthcare reform is a good idea to some US citizens; they prefer to believe nonsense like this video. Ironically, those same people are profoundly ignorant of or hopelessly confused over the most successful (and least expensive) healthcare programs in the US: Medicare and the Veterans Administration. The learning curve on healthcare delivery is very high in the US. I envy you in Australia!

This video was created by the ACLU to oppose private corporations from collecting and selling data about you. Being that private corporations will be running ObamaCare this vid is really not anti-government but anti-corporate. If you believe credit card companies shouldn't share your personal habits with your health insurance provider then thumbs up!!

Like most Australians I don't have private health insurance. Recently my GP lanced a supposedly benign sebaceous cyst and realised it was a rapidly growing tumour. Within a week I'd had an ultrasound and CAT scan and had it excised by a plastic surgeon at my local public hospital.
Total cost? $15 for postoperative painkillers and antibiotics.
"Socialism!" you cry? Our corporate and personal tax rates are lower than the US.
We would jail your health insurance lobbyists that bribe Washington.
