  • Because of the restrictor on the inlet side of the turbo, the amount of air to the engine is heavily reduced. this is according to rally regulations. This is the reason of the quick gearchanges as an engine like this is built to produce as much torque as possible at low rpms, when the rpm is high, the engine swallows more air and the boost pressure reduces and the power reduces!

  • Those were the times! The era of the WRC cars with antilags louder than a raid of a an antiterrorist squad! :)

  • Not all Escort WRC's had the sequential shifter. Later on in 1997 they switched to a sequential box. The first ones had a H patterned dog box. Now these days they've probably converted those cars to the dog box.

  • The gearbox is a sequential box ,and if its a proper WRC like the title says then the spec is gonna be the dogz bollox's, and obviously set up with close ratio changes in mind (hence the super quick changes)
