Lowdown the new eight part comedy series starring Adam Zwar and Kim Gyngell. Set in the world of celebrity tabloid journalism, Lowdown shines a spotlight on the life of a man whose job it is to feed the publics insatiable appetite for celebrity gossip...something it seems we just cant get enough of.
And co-creator, writer and star of the series Adam Zwar (from Wilfred fame) knows a thing or two about it. Lowdown is based loosely on events from his former career as a showbiz journalist and columnist for the Sunday Herald Sun. In the series, Adam stars as Alex Burchill, author of the Lowdown column which appears in the once mighty tabloid newspaper the Sunday Sun. Each week Alex interviews celebrities for his column, some willingly and others not so, and each week those celebrities somehow ruin his life. It may not sound like much fun, but it invariably leads to great copy. The readers love it and the ailing Sunday Sun relies on it.

Lowdown is narrated by none other than Geoffrey Rush and also stars Kim Gyngell as the Sunday Sun editor, Paul Denny as Bob the Sunday Sun photographer and Alexs best mate and Beth Buchanan as Rita, Alexs on-again-off-again girlfriend. Alexs inept GP Dr James played by Dailan Evans fuels his cyber-chondria while Julia Zemiro plays Hope van der Boom, the gutsy publicist to the stars.
Lowdown premieres on ABC1 Wednesday 21 April at 9pm and on ABC2 Thursday 22 April at 8.30pm.

  • Looks fantastic Paul. Good on you!

  • Anything that shafts 'Hungry Beast' (which is the most pointless shows made in years) deserve a look. However, this show looks great!

    I will be watching.

  • Well done Paul. It is a super cast. Probably won't show over here b ut as always I'm real proud to say, 'I went to school with that bloke". Enjoy the fame and I'm certain that worldwide recognition is only a matter of time. On a philosophical note, remember that fame is a journey, not a destination or a goldfish.
