If someone is guilty for this accident, then its the allies!

The Laconia was an armed merchant cruiser, since 1939.
After she was sunk, the german commander radioed his position to the allies, asking for help with the rescue. Also, 3 more uboats were ordered to assist.
Then, the americans started bombing the uboats. They damaged one and sunk several towed rescue boats, forcing the commander to cut the ropes and to dive.
On that day, Dönitz gave order to not participate in any rescue, anymore.

It's very sad reading harsh comments made by people that don't even know history, only suppose... I'm referring in special way to mspratz. The sinking of Laconia was a real international tragedy, because involved, Italians, polish, british, germans, americans and french. Was a turning point in the war because were issued orders that made war even more inhuman, Italian pow's in this "marginal event" paid the highest cost, over 1400 of 1600 dead. No one was courtmartialled for this crime.

International viewers of this movie clip, please don't forget the 1.400 italians POW drowned into the sinking ship.
We were your ennemies but we were human beings as well.
Our hands were cut to avoid our rescue on the lifeboats reserved to english only.
...it's also stupid conclusion... Not all German soliders were 'animals'. Many of them proved to be honored and human. Respecting the opponent, and helping their enemies if they needed help, like in this case. Many other German U-Boat commanders continued to help ship crews even it was forrbidden after this incident. Altough there was also crimes from Allies that were never been charged. Like in example of sinking of U-187 when the crew of HMS Beverley fired at crew in water of sunked U-boat...
