Grand Canyon Hiking: South Kaibab - Tonto Trails, May, 2010

http://www.NaturalMoment.com A spectacular spring hike down the South Kaibab Trail from Grand Canyon's South Rim.

Wildflowers and cactus in bloom add greatly to the already-spectacular canyon views. After descending part way into the Inner Gorge, I realize I have dawdled too long photographing, and decide to take the Tonto Trail over to Indian Garden, then hike out via the Bright Angel Trail.

Thanks so much. I like to make my nature videos as "organic" (can't think of a more appropriate word at this time) as possible. Meaning grass roots, or through my eyes or those of someone on the ground there.

After a very dry early spring here in northern Arizona it was a wet summer for the desert. Wildflowers erupted.

Of course you wouldn't have seen nearly as many people at Thanksgiving. And I think the "horde" near the top was a commercial hiking tour group. They have their role as well.

Awesome video! It shows the colors and depths of the canyon very well. The flowers were amazing!!! I've been to the canyon about a dozen times, but never caught the canyon in bloom. It looks beautiful! You sure had a slew of folks near the top. My last visit was Thanksgiving 2009, and it didn't seem nearly as crowded. I guess the flowers and the weather attract a lot of folks. Your video was great, and brought back great memories. Thanks for sharing.
