After taking some heat for saying I didn't like Hi Points on my podcast, I went out and shot a C9. My opinion stands- it's a cheap, junk gun. But it was an awful lot of fun, and I may pick one up just because I can. It's accurate enough, and pleasant to shoot, even if it's got lousy ergonomics for every other control. If this is all you can afford, you may find yourself spending the difference in cost for a nicer pistol in ammo anyway, as you search for a load that won't jam.

  • first off; you are a retard for bashing the gun itself and not the mags that through some basic research are the known culprits for the jamming issues. once the feed lips are widened a bit and the ramp is polished. out of about 800 rounds i think i have jammed 3 times and a few FtF. best ever " oh this gun is a piece of junk" then later on " its accurate and shoots nice" ; wtf ever......

  • @monkadelic13 First off, I did actually assign the majority of blame to the cheaply made magazines if you actually listened to what I said. Secondly, it IS a junk gun as far as being acceptable for a defensive pistol, but in the spirit of balance and honesty I think it's a great "toy" gun for plinking because it's easy-shooting. It's called giving both the pros and the cons.

  • my c9 has never jammed and i shoot it every weekend and have done so for years

  • @freepatriot1776 That's great. And as I've said, I think it would be a decent range gun. But I'm looking for more than that and I think a serious end-user should as well. Try running your C9 through a GunSite 250 or other intense course and let me know how it runs. I'd honestly be curious.

  • @mandel395 Mandel, I'm all for disagreeing but I don't tolerate rudeness.Beside, you called me an idiot but misspelled two words and used no punctuation- which just makes your posts comical and presents a really bad image of the "typical" Hi Point owner. Think before you type, man. And I know nothing at all, huh? Try looking up "ZAMAK-3", "zinc", and "pot metal" sometime. Then learn about casting vs. forging. Nice work getting yourself blocked, buddy.

  • @floatingaxehead In your opinion it doesn't cut it. Hi Point is a fine firearm. Both Hi Points that I own, are flawless in every way. Never have they jammed nor have they ever let me down. I have put thousands of rounds both factory and handloads. Both jacketed bullets and casts.. I have shot Winchester, Federal and Blazer through them.

  • I take my .40 caliber Hi Point JCP into the shower with me to guard against home invaders when I'm in the bathroom. No rust on the Zamak! Can't say the same form my Ruger P-97 and it's blued steel slide.

  • These are trash. I bought one tens years ago and it was a total waste of money. These guns will get you killed. C9's now run about $160-190. If you can't afford any more than that and you feel you need a gun now for defense of your home, PLEASE go to Walmart and buy a Mossberg Maverick pump action shotgun. No one makes a good pistol for under $200, but you can buy a hell of a decent shotgun for that price.

  • at 3:15 you went through an entire mag one handed with no jams. Were you using PMC?

  • You were great in Back to the Future 1-3 dude.

  • @floatingaxehead now that i dont think i would try not saying the c9 couldnt handle it but running it through a hardcore shooting course i probably wouldnt do. it is however a good gun for home defence.

  • @MoriarFake2 No, blowback pistols don't lock up at all. Though I will say all the quality blowback guns I've owned (Colt 1903, PPK, NAA Guardian) are heavier spring and made from steel. Much more difficult to press out of battery.

Worry about the cons I present? If it's a personal defense gun, in my opinion the answer is "yes". Poorly made magazines and followers, 50% failure on mag safety and slide lock, and a pot metal slide are nothing I could ever recommend.
