  • I think that your black belt and 'sensei' status has gone to your head. I have used this technique in judo competition before against people who know I am going to do it. If I can get them with it, then it has every chance of working on the street, not that that in my opinion is the point of doing a martial art. As for the Uke just standing there, that is how you practice a technique. Anyway if he was more dynamic and moved forward Tori could change to Harai Goshi or another technique.

  • You don't know what technique your seeing. It's a poor execution of osoto otoshi. Look at Yasuhiro Yamashita, its emtremely powerful

  • @ninjalla Furthermore, o soto gari doesn't actually have a "kick." Executed properly, contact is made between the hamstrings, and a lifting reap achieves the height.

  • thats the worst osoto otoshi i have ever seen!!!

  • There is no leverage here. Not osoto otoshi.

Osoto Gari chops the leg , osoto otoshi pries the leg with leverage. The toes should touch the ground and tori's stance should be low.

  • that is not very technical

  • @kosotogake

yeah, & there's your "mutual benefit".... luzer

  • this is kind of a mix between osoto gari & osoto otoshi. It's supposed to be more of a leg sliding down while pushing the uke back, rather than the osoto gari kick back. I suppose the mechanics of the lower attack is otoshi-ish but the top-side push isn't really strong enough to separate it from osoto gari. This actually looks more like one of those funny hopping osoto garis with a "charged tension" leg attack.

If you're post techniques, just do the damn technique right. Don't take it "easy".

  • @flooaweeb This is not me doing the throw, it's a former Judo state champion. And he is just taking it easy, documenting the throws so one can understand their basic idea - in most of our Akban wiki clips we chose only to document, not teach or impress with dazzling techniques.

In the youtube ninjalla channel we have about 800 clips, in our other youtube channels we have 700 more. There is no way one Akban veteran can do these all, so we split the load.

  • @ninjalla Critics are only needed because people put out crap. If you want to document something do it right. Gari = reap, geri = diarrhea. This is not osoto otoshi and you have no idea what you are doing. I pray for uke.

  • @flooaweeb . Movie critics are much needed everywhere. Much more so then a bunch of guys trying to document martial arts in the "Akban wiki".

Thank you for your your immensely satisfying presence.
