I've been looking at a bunch of different sites and there's conflicting advice on chewing the seeds. Do you have to make sure to chew the seeds in order to properly get all the nutrients? Or can you just drink it straight? I know that for flax, you need to chew or grind it first, is that the same for chia?

i mixed chia seeds with water for about 20 minutes it never gelled up would you know what went wrong????

I believe 1/2 cup contains 8 Tbs.

Rene, your ratio of chia to water is right on! Since there are 16 tablespoons in a cup and you said to use 1/2 cup water, this 1 to 8 ratio works great! Thanks so much for all you do. You videos help improve the quality of life for all!

@EmbraceEco ... I have bought my first chia seeds, I just love chewing them. Is this ok? I do drink lots of water afterwards. Do unchewed seeds get digested?

if the ratio is 1part chia seeds to 9 parts H2o , then she should have added:
1 tab. chia to 9 tab. h2o, ~ not 1/2 cup of water, which is only 4 tabs. of water.
Looking at the amount of water she used, it seems alot more than 4 tabs, probably 1 cup and she just misspoke. Just thought I should give you the correct measurements. just started eating Chia, but I let it soak in the water overnight.
Good Luck! Great Seed!
I think Renee did a wonderful job and can't wait to check out her book!

This would be great for auto-immune bowel diseases!

Sałba is not an heirloom chia seed, it is merely the white mutation. It occurs naturally amongst the predominantly purple seeds. Sałba is a trademark name which is marketed as a nutriceutical, or "medicine food." This marketing b.s. obscures the natural beauty of the seed, playing into the whole "white food" idiocy. Don’t trust any of the value added stuff, just get the seed. Besides this claim, Ms. Oswald does a good job of dropping the basics on chia preparation.
PLEASE REPLY: cant i jst drink the chia gel as is ?

@skllz415 Yes, once it's hydrated you can drink add it to any drink, smoothies, juices or any recipe that you'd like. It's tasteless, so it goes with everything!
