The Honda CR-X is a car many reminisce about and many see the new CR-Z as a modern reincarnation. Honda says "nope, it's new kind of sporty coupe". Can the Z's IMA hybrid system unite performance junkies and tree huggers? Tom Voelk checks it out.

  • they should offer an si model of this

  • picked up a 6 speed EX. had a bmw 330. i like this little car a lot since i like having lots of options. my commute can use all 3 modes so i'm pressing buttons, shifting gears, enjoying the tunes or on the bluetooth phone system. it won't suite the needs of the multitude. it's a smart car, nible and fun in sport and the pleasing glow of the green halo when you're in eco really makes you feel you're doing your small part for the planet.

  • Just bought an Ex 2012 automatic. Love the car. Handles great. Takes corners like nobodys business. Its faster than everyone says. The paddle shifters are awesome and easy to use. The interior looks like its aftermarket. If you wanna car with all the extras and a super comfortable ride that will turn heads this is it.

  • If only there was an Si version.... ugh.

  • Hyundai's Veloster will destroy that car..lol

The lead engineer on the CR-Z has already said they are working on a performance version of the car, and the best part about it is they are keeping it a Hybrid...

Why is that good? Because the electric engine helps with something Honda engines typically have problems with... low end torque. Check out Bisimoto CRZ vids if you want to know the potential of a future Si/Type R.

  • i just test drove one yesterday and i would totally buy this but only with the auto w/ paddle shifters way faster than the manual i almost got 44 mpg down the highway at 70 mph running right along with traffic in normal mode eco i got almost 49 mpg same speed but if your going to get this totally buy the automatic

While I can't say for sure- I know CRZ sales in the US have stalled- and Honda (even though it may seem like it) hasn't completely forgotten the legion of performance oriented Honda fans. Most Honda loyalists were disappointed in the CRZ because it wasn't a gasoline only model with greater horsepower- so the only way to win them back is to come out with the high performance version, assuming they haven't already moved on.

  • @d1ogo360 ....... Stick to what you do best over there in the U.K. ...Harry Potter, Dr. Who, and dancing around Stonehenge naked!!! Speaking of a good laugh..... how's that "royal" couple thing turning out?...LOL!

  • @accordguy0325 ..... but will that version make it to the U.S.?

  • @NaziJewNikka Dude u took the words right out of my mouth. :P

I was about to say, They need to slap a k20 in this bitch...
