Apocalyptica is a particular band, some people say they are a Symphonic Metal band, but I don't really agree, I'd rather to say they are a Classical Rock/Metal band (Symphonic Metal is like Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation,...). They use classical instrument and they do a "rockish/metalish" music with, so for me it's a Classical Rock/Metal band. But, their kind of music is not really defined because they are the only one of this kind.

@nefastbiatch i think they began with a project called: "Apocalyptica plays Metalica on Cellos", then i think they gain popularity and start doing theyre own music...

Yeah you're right, they began at school, they played Metallica covers for fun, during parties with friends.
