The 5th annual Nebraska Renaissance Faire and Medieval Pageant began its three-day run Saturday with swinging of swords and salutes to the King and Queen.
Located on the Scary Acres property on Giles Road, the Faire transformed visitors into villagers and allowed them to experience the sights and delights of the Renaissance time.
Several professional performing troupes such as the Royale Pirates of Tortuga, the Nebraska Swordfighters Guild, and the Bashaarat Belly Dancers were on hand as well as blacksmiths, musicians, storytellers and magicians. Watch a video of the Bashaarat Belly Dancers' performance.
A new addition to the yearly event was the Pirate Cove Stage.
Novelty food and drink along with numerous children's activities and games of skill were also featured.
The Nebraska Renaissance Faire and Medieval Pageant is located at 17272 Giles road, just down the intersection of 168th and Giles. It is open through Monday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m.. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 8-14, and free for children ages 4 and under. Two-day passes are also available for $15.
