Many people requested a tutorial on how i achieved the grindhouse effect. As my computers processing power isn't strong enough to record a live screen capture of the step by step process, i made this video in which i show the effects used stage by stage to achieve the effect.

I used Sony Vegas 6 to make the video. All the filters used are available in any video editing software although i recommend using either Sony Vegas, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects or Adobe Premiere Pro

I also included the filter settings used at the end of the video although these might need to be tweeked depending on your own videos lighting / aperature etc.

Please comment and subscribe and let me know about any other tutorials you would be interested in seeing.

Thank You :)

  • everythings great, but the scratches are a bit much.. you should blur them so they don't distract too much

  • @NamesROverated Yeh i need to fix the scratches a bit, they're a bit repetitive too, if you go on my channel you can check out some of my later stuff of recent, let me know what you think, hopefully ill make a full grindhouse short film soon :D

Have you checked out any of my other stuff by any chance? :)

  • @TheRorshach27

The scratches were made on adobe photoshop CS2 but again can be done on any version. I simply added grain to a blank canvas and added the scratches in myself and saved the image. I made 24 of these images and imported them into a timeline on windows movie maker. When saved it will play 1 picture every 24th of a second, thus giving the illusion of scratches.

Let me know if theres anything else you need in more detail? :)

I used sony vegas 6 to do all the effects but you can use any version, although I recommend the later editions. The software is not free although you can download it from websites such as thepiratebay or any other site that hosts torrents.

I used image effects to create each step of this look and this video is simply a progression of all the effects layered ontop of each other. The settings i used are at the end of the video.

  • Thank u for commenting ineed help on every thing from step one all the way to the last one what software is it and is it free? How do u put lighting and scratches and every thing thank u
