Louie, our precious feline living soul, passed on 1/12/09. He was a svelt 30 pound Maine Coon; big NOT fat. He suffered from asthma and cardiomyopathy, part of what sometimes comes with being the giant male Maine Coon he was. He was only 8 years old. We miss him terribly. Give some stars to Louie if you can. These videos are all we have of him now, and stars mean a lot to my family. He was one of a kind. Long live the King.

  • Yes I understand all of this too as a maine coon owner....

I love mine so much i brought my 2 cats from the UK to Australia with me for two years.

Kizzy, would just come up to me if I am by myself on the sofa, and if I am wearing a tee shirt... would just start licking my hairy arms, as if to say "Hey dad.. you look a bit manky today... let me give you a quick groom"

You are right though, maine coons are very sensitive, as she will not do it in front of anyone!

    God Bless,

    Jonny Weston

  • I love that you "get" them. Maine Coons rock. I'm glad you travel with your family, even though I know that is not easy to accomodate in Australia.

    G-d Bless!

  • Maine Coons are the boss in are house they groom are dogs also and tell them what to do

  • They also boss the humans sometimes. If you check the new video on my channel, you'll see some more of what you already know. :-)

  • I love the arms too, so precious. cleanest dog in town.............thanks for sharing.

  • I love how Louie has his arms around his friend!

  • sorry for your loss. My female maine coon likes to lick every other cat in the house, the dogs and even her humans.. we call it "forced lovings" since she'll lick you whether you want her to or not.

  • sorry to hear your Louie passed away. My cat passed away last year, and I still couldn't get over it, I guess I never will. I miss him too much.

I moved to Spain and brought my cat but after a happy year he developed diabetes and some bad vets couldn't get the right treatment for him.

we know what you're going through! each cat steals a piece of our hearts forever, they are true angels :)

  • I love it! I too have a Maine Coon and 2 Schnauzers. They love each other! I just put my video on youtube of the kitty grooming the Schnauzer. Aren't they just amazing!

  • From what I know, the personality of a Maine Coon is consistantly cool and it's what makes them different from other large felines like Rag Dolls. They are more like a "wild" cat and very engaging. We have found it's just best to have a separate dineing table for Louie, his is equal in size to the one our family uses. :-)

  • So most maine coons actually have that personality. Every other cat i've seen will walk up to you look for a quick pet and leave. My uncles maine coon takes over. He rams his head into you, lays his whole body on you. Actually gets in your face unlike most cats. And he will never leave you alone. If he wants to climb on a table he will do so, and not be scared off. I love my uncles cat.
