I remember it well. The log cabin my dad built is at about 4:36. But I can't remember - was the parade on Lewis Avenue, Sheridan Road?  Where was it?

Now that is very cool! The parade was filmed by my Dad's office at the time, on Washington Street at the old Karcher hotel. The log cabin is awesome! I'm lucky my folks saved all these memories, 'cause they are not just for me. Thanks for the message,

I'm pretty sure the man driving the red stagecoach at 4:49 was my Grandfather, Joe Adams. He was a dairy farmer in Wadsworth and the horses he was driving were his own draft horses Sally and Moon. My Mom tells me that I was at this parade with the rest of the family, but I was a toddler.

@pleza1 I still have a cavity in my throat where certain hards foods like carrots get stuck. So every time I choke on carrots, I will remember the Waukegan Centennial.

@pleza1 My brother and I got some of the little flags along the parade. They were Civil War with both Union and Rebel flags. When we got home we were playing Civil War. I had a rebel flag in my mouth. As I ran down the hall my brother smacked the flag and the stick went into my throat and broke off. My mom to yank it out with the pliers. I

It was on Washington Street. We were sitting near the North Shore Line railroad station. I remember Jack Benny driving by in the Maxwell. My dad was one of those unlucky guys who just couldn't grow a beard, so it cost him a lot of time in the Jaycees mock jail. Any man who didn't have a beard got "arrested".

Thanks for posting this video. I was 7 in 1959 and don't remember much of the parade but I remember my dad growing a beard for the celebration. We lived at the corner of Hickory and Glen Flora and I was getting ready to start second grade at St. Anastasia....

I remember it well. I was 9 years old and saw it on Washington St., just 2 blocks east of the high school.  I am fairly certain I am at :28 and Rust y Brown is next to me.
