@NXPenguinFlutist thats true But dont forget that most of them have evolved over the years. not many of them are the same as when they were first formed. eg. my form of ninjutsu and jujitsu that i practice most likely are not the same as when they were first created.

@snarfels Each martial art technique is designed for a certain task, i.e. Flying sidekicks were designed to dismount cavalry. But using that kind of technique against someone on the ground is almost guaranteed to fail. So to answer your question, there are some martial arts that are more effective than others in the current environment.

I'm not going to try and debate the historical effectiveness of a given martial art.
What if a martial art, is at this time, ineffective against other martial arts?

@snarfels Every martial art that exists was effective at the time of its creation for FIGHTING. The problem is actually using and learning it properly.

@Cadbil haha lol you obviously know nothing about wing tsun if you think it's all fancy kicks and stuff. Wing Tsun is actually has very close combat. You can learn to disarm someone with a gun. Just because you think wing tsun wouldn't work, doesn't mean your right.
