There is such a thing called a balance of power and arms race. If someone (from any side) goes too far, then the other side will get worried to let them progress further as it would then leave their homeland vunerable. This would lead to a massive conflict between superpowers, which would affect the whole world. Right now the US is very close to going too far...No matter who wins, there will surely be a one world government in place later. Do you really want to see the consequences of that?

It is in US interests to do this as well as the interests of western powers. Like I said, I would rather have the US be the "imperialist bad guy" with bases everywhere than Russia and China. Russia is run by the former KGB and China

Please dont talk about those countries as if they are the same, and look at the size of the US military compared to both of them combined, and the number of armed interventions in so many countries over the last decade, and decide for yourself who is the real threat to the world. Bill is kinda right here. We can't be an isolationist nation anymore. Someone has to fill the role of imperialist nation wih bases in all the other countries and I would rather it be the US than Russia or China (the two other nations with the power and desire to do that). Which sounds better, the US keeping tabs on everyone else and having a military presence in all other countries or China or Russia doing that?
