DANNY WILLIAMS ALTHOUGH BORN IN SOUTH AFRICA,GREW UP AND STARTED HIS SINGING CAREER IN ENGLAND.

THIS SMOOTH AND STYLISH SINGER WAS NICKNAMED 'BRITAIN'S JOHNNY MATHIS'

HIS 'U K NO 1'VERSION OF 'MOON RIVER' IS REGARDED BY MANY INCLUDING MYSELF AS 'THE DEFINITIVE VERSION'

IT HAS SUPPOSEDLY BEEN REPORTED THAT THE SINGER NAT KING COLE DECLINED TO RECORD THIS SONG AS HE REGARDED DANNY'S VERSION WAS 'UNSURPASSABLE'

SADLY,THIS WONDERFUL SINGER DIED ON THE 6TH DECEMBER 2005 FROM CANCER.

THANK U KINDLY

  • Beautiful song, lovely version. Thanks for posting!

  • @mitchking2006 Thank you for your kind comments

  • First heard Danny in 1961. Singers like this just don't appear on the scene anymore...regardless of what Simon Cowell would say With all the technology and studio gimmickry nobody would sound like this. Crystalline clear and polished. Music from a timeless, talent filled era.

  • I totally agree with your sentiments. Although i like Andy Williams version of 'Moon River' also but i've always regarded Danny's Version as the Definitive One.

  • in the early 1960s there was a singer who sang in a similar style to danny williams. his name was michael london. he did a lovely version of strangers on the shore. can anyone help me with this.

  • @davidwalsh66

Unfortunately, i've not heard of this singer before, hopefully there is someone on YouTube who can help. Wishing You A Very Happy and Peaceful New Year. Kind Regards

  • Great voice, nobody like this around today. Glad to have lived through this period.

To be honest, what does Simon Cowell know; why should we respect his opinion. I don't.
