It's simple, stick to the simple framework of the constitution

It may not be that simple. Take a look at the work of Ferdinand Lundberg, in particular "Cracks in the Constitution" (1980) and "The Myth of Democracy" (1989). Lundberg makes a convincing argument the Founding Fathers were intent on frustrating NOT promoting representative democracy - and that 'the people', protestations to the contrary, don't really want and real democracy, representative or otherwise, anyhow.

Nothings ever simple and if it is, it doesn't require pondering.

However, the 2 largest problems that threatens the system we have, that is a great, great system is, the abuse of fractional reserve banking and not sticking to the word of the constitution. We could have had thousands of years of sustainability if we had just been true to the framework.
