The Wayfinders of Polynesia inhabited the largest culturesphere in human history, spanning one fifth of the surface of the planet. Navigators of the sea, Wayfinders used wave pattern 'fingerprints' and the stars to travel to thousands of islands. However, this culture that once flourished over 25 million square kilometres of ocean, has seen much of its history and tradition die out. To preserve Wayfinding, one Hawaiian native learns this art form of navigation and designs a traditional Polynesian boat to sail across the islands. Wade Davis accompanies him on one of these journeys to learn and listen as he shares his emotional story of overcoming stereotypes and disillusionment to embrace the culture of his ancestors. Complemented with commentary from a Polynesian scholar, The Wayfinders offers an in-depth look into the life of this ancient culture.

    Yes, I agree with you.

  • No south Americans found Polynesia. It was south east Asians, they have done DNA research, language similarities, Polynesia has many of the same native plants and animals, old relics ect. I will admit, it would be VERY easy for south A to find Rapa Nui, and I would not be suprized if they did at one point, but Rapa Nui natives have been DNA traced back and have the same DNA features as everyone else in Polynesia, South East Asian orgin.

  • inferieur..right??

  • No artifacts from South America in the South Pacific? What about Ahu Vinapu in Rapa Nui? It is an example of Inca stone work in Rapa Nui.

    Why did they sail?

When everything was created at the beginning of time, the Creator sent E-rua-i-te-arai to go and look for new lands. So when they went to sail, they were participating in the creation of things.

It is correct, exploring was a way for social advancement. Te Agiagi told his older brothers, "I fear the shadow of your digging sticks."

  • what for I didn't say they didn't and I didn't say they did, I said what do you care

  • yes this is true - go into the web and search for Abrogines-South America - and you will find a lot of results. This is definitely proofed by science - Peter
