How can we expect Africa to pay back that kind of money. We MUST cancel it. We have money. Yes were just coming out of recession, but most of us still have jobs. We have a national health service, medicine. If we catch aids or cancer, we can get help for it. We have a police force and an education system. We have law and order.

They have.....nothing. Nothing but the rags they are wearing and the dirt at their feet. We need to help them!!!

@Rebekah270984 Its not just decisions made centuries ago, its decisions still being made today. Many africans reject modern knowledge and still believe in witchcraft. We had the same opportunities and we did the right thing, they didn't. Yes, that is their own fault.

@olvoro11 I'm not going to geet into an argument about this, as it could very easily escalate. But you seem to be saying that because African people from hundreds of years ago made certain decision, that it is their own fault that people are dying today. I'm sorry, but living in one of the 'super power' countries, I believe that we should all do everything we can to help these people. It is not right and it is not ok for them to suffer this way.

@olvoro11 ...keep in mind that they exploit themselves as well. We enslaved them in the past, but they also enslaved themselves too. I'm sick of all this criticising of the western world. We didn't become what we are today by lying around in the grass all day.

@Rebekah270984 As I said, I believe both parts are EQUALLY to blame. Why did we advance whilst the africans didn't? They developed a good physique hunting, we developed a smarter mind by working and thinking. The enlightenment and renaissance never got to Africa because they rejected such values, instead choosing their hunting life. It's a question of survival of the fittest, we developed, they didn't, that doesn't make it our fault.Before you say anything about the fact that we exploit them...

Does that make it ok that we can go up the road for paracetamol every time we have a headache, while these people have aids, and are dying from disease, but still have to walk 10-20 miles every day just for a drink of water? There is no way this can be justified. Why don't we give them a break....let them get on their feet, build an economy, then maybe they could pay a debt.

Starting from scratch, we built a society while the africans were out hunting and doing nothing. It's not our fault that they're third world countries today.
