I am curious how the hobbing bit comes into being - Are they a standard tool to be ordered from a specialty supplier, or are they custom ordered for the job from a cnc shop?

Single lead hob. Made gears with Barber-Colman, Gould & Eberhardt and other hobbers many years ago. Even used taps to make small gears on hobbers.
What type of lead arrangement does this hobber use for helicals?

hi
this is a nice video. machine is running very smooth.
but........
please clear how u can cut 44 teeth, in 660 mm (26") diameter, with a 2 DP Hob Cutter?

@king147301
You are correct in questioning the diameter as I should have put 584.00mm instead of 660mm.
Thankyou for pointing that out.
