Strange Sounds on 10 meter

On july 17 2009 some strange sounds were moving over the 10 meter band. The recording is made around 8:45 UTC. The sounds were also heard in other parts of Europe, so it's not likely to be any local QRM/QRN.

I don't think it was BPL. The power company isn't using it nor my neighbours.

That morning I was in a QSO on 10 meter with a station from France who was hearing the same sounds. See my website for more info.

Are you using a switch mode power supply in the shack? sounds like the floating rf that such a psu makes on the bands... Dave M0TWA

The sounds are not always there.

I sometimes hear this on 11 meter band, but it's there and gone in seconds.
