It would be an extremely cool feature if SMS messages could be integrated with Gmail. I mean, incoming and outgoing SMS messages could be uploaded to Gmail and stay there to further look-ups on a desktop.

There is an application that does exactly that called "SMS Backup." I've been using it for a while now and it works very well.

Push e-mail is very useful. Interface is very well designed. It looks to me an excellent way to manage email on the go. But GMail application does not work so well.

Isn't this the same as using IMAP? Or, if he is using the browser, it is even more simple since the browser shows only what is there on the server! Any phone can do this but, I have to agree with one thing, the push Gmail feature on Android is AMAZING along with calendar and contact sync.

i realize that apple uses more money on commercials but also, i realize their focus is also on peers. Andriod is a better device rather than "cool"

That's not really too impressive. He marked his mail as read on gmail's servers, not his desktop.
