@Zero14811111 Perfect example and I've never heard of this dude until maybe like a month ago when one of my friends told me to watch the video for Won-Ton Soup.

@Pookie2419 Example: Lil B

damn ice cube said it good

Cube made many great points and I've been saying some of them for the longest now. Artists use to put their heart and passion into rapping because you had to grind hard and make sacrifices to get that money. Nowadays, money is handed to you no matter how garbage you may sound so todays' artists feel like they don't need to put any effort into their music because they're going to get paid anyways. That's why I lost alot of respect for the music of today.

Now Ice Cube Is A Great Example Of A Legend

@BodyCount1992 Again. This does not mean music is good because it's popular. I was simply pointing out a fact. For instance, I hate Celine Dion. Yet, 200 million people have bought her records because THEY think her music is good. Would they buy it if they thought it was bad? There is a reason why something is popular and it all ties to what people think. This particular statement of mine was for those who hate mainstream music simply because it's mainstream music.

@sigurjong Let me quote you to finish this: 'If it [the mainstream music] was so bad then nobody would wanna hear it.'
To me this sentence means that music cannot be that bad because many people listen to it. If not, tell me what you meant with that statement.
-
@BodyCount1992 Yeah, you did misunderstand me. I never said mainstream music was good because it's popular. This shit is subjective. Period. However, there is a reason why Thriller sold millions. People ain't buying music they think is bad. That does not mean the music is good because of that. I am just pointing out facts. Celine Dion has sold over 200 million albums worldwide and YET I hate her music. It's subjective.
The interesting thing about this is, it's not about Old school VS. New School. It's about Hip Hop VS. Something that ain't Hip Hop, that's being called, or marketed as Hip Hop! What Ice T said was something many Hip Hop supporters were already saying. How the fuck you got these no-talented dudes who can barely rap, getting radio play and making tons of money when there are so many lyricist who understand what Hip Hop is struggling for years & still gotta hold a day job to make ends meet!
