im getting a minibike that is almost the same. im gonna put in a 9hp briggs vanguard engine. with 12 teeth on clutch sprocket and 60 on axel will i be able to average 40 mph. without moding the engine to not have a governor. and not opening it or what not. by the way im 120 lbs.

dude i dropped 22 teeth on the back sprocket and it gave it 7 more mph, I dont think your bike would gain 30 mph from this change, I want a real estimate or a video please

hah im going to do the same thing! whats the top speed you think?

Like I said above, it goes 42 mph right now with the 8 hp and the stock 72 or whatever it is HUGE back sprocket. That is with my 6 ft 3 in. 210 lb butt on it followed by my wife in my car. I did hold the governor open to go that fast. Now in the 2 videos you see of it on the road, those are my son going as fast as he could WHILE NOT holding the governor open and that is somewhere around 36 to 38 mph. I do not have a video of the cars speedo. You'll just have to believe me. It Goes 42 mph.

I have the 3.5 hp one and it goes exactly 21 mph with a 72 tooth sprocket. Goes 28 mph with a 50 tooth sprocket. I Just wanna know how fast the 8 hp would go if i switched it out with my 3.5

The top speed is about the same as the 3.5 hp cause the 8 hp doesn't really rev higher than the 3.5 did. I clocked the 8hp at 42 mph. However, the bike gets to 42 a LOT quicker. This is because the sprocket sizes stayed the same. I will say that if I change the rear sprocket to a smaller one, the 8 hp would definietly go way faster than 42 where aerodynamic drag would stop the 3.5 from going much more than 42. Depending on the sprockets, I'd guess the 8hp to be capable of 70-80 mph or more.
