My response to the video Comparing Boot Times on the BlackBerry Storm2 vs Storm 9530 vs Bold 9700 vs Bold 9000. This is a BlackBerry Storm 9530 on Verizon. It's running OS 5.0.0.328 (which you can see in the video). And you can see how many applications I've installed, too. It took 3 minutes and 25 seconds to start up. The one in the video I'm replying to took 2 minutes and 35 seconds to start up, but since it's just out of its box (and is on TELUS, though the carrier has almost nothing to do with the physical device), it has nothing to load. My LackBerry--sorry, BlackBerry Storm has the following app list (which you see at 6:58):

BeejiveIM 2.0.2 (7)
BOLT Browser 2.02
BuddyGuard 0.8.0.3
Cube Touch XXL - Free 1.0.2
Documents To Go 2.0004.018
MemoryUp Personal 3.5.1
MyVerizon 2.0.18
Opera Mini 5.0
Pixelated 1.2
Snaptu 1.2.9
Tether 1.1.0.3
BlackBerry App World 1.1.0.33
BlackBerry Application Center 5.0.0
BlackBerry Maps 5.0.0
BlackBerry S/MIME Support Package 5.0.0
DOD Root Certificates 5.0.0
Facebook 1.7.0.22
MemoPad 5.0.0
MySpace 2.0.0.19
Password Keeper 5.0.0
Tasks 5.0.0
Twitter 1.0.0.37
Windows Live Messenger 2.5.32
Browser 5.0.0
Email Setup Application 5.0.0
Phone 5.0.0
BlackBerry Core Applications and System Software 5.0.0 (which includes: WLAN, contacts, calendar, camera, clock, diagnostics, file explorer, gps, media player and library, media recorder, setup wizards, visual theme, and other processes and apps required for the OS to work)

This leaves me with 29.9 MB of available application memory, which is where the processor would create a virtual paging file when the RAM is full, much like virtual memory on a PC. I've also spent an extensive amount of time optimizing the memory on the device because of its positively stupid memory structure. So it actually has quite a bit to load at first.

  • no sirve tu video.

  • @this490 O...kay? What do you mean my video doesn't work? I'm watching it as I type this. It's working just fine. El video funciona bien. Lo estoy viendo ahora mismo. Yes, that's from Google Translate, so bite me if it's not conjugated correctly.

  • Correct me if I'm wrong but the phone in this video is Storm 1 not 2. Look at the 4 buttons on the bottom of the screen. Storm 2 has these buttons on the screen (under the glass screen) and not separated.

  • @Akaichen Yes, this is a Storm 9530, also known as a Storm 1. I've said as much in the video description.

  • The video I replied to had the Storm 2 taking a lot longer than any of the others, despite being newer. 8 minutes doesn't sound surprising.

  • It takes my storm 2 three minutes to reload after a battery pull

  • I must have something wrong with my Storm 2 then. It takes it about 8 minutes or so to completely reboot. My storm 1 was a little faster.
